FRANCIS WYMAN SCHOOL - WEEKLY BULLETIN
May 8, 2015

THANK YOU FW PTO!  Once again our parents outdid themselves with the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon.  We celebrated Cinco de Mayo style on Tuesday. There were so many leftovers teachers were able to nibble all week long! A delicious luncheon and a duty free day was greatly appreciated by our teachers! Muchas Gracias!

The Spring Arts Night was a huge success!  Thank you to all the parents who attended this wonderful evening of art!  Our 4th and 5th graders performed in chorus and band with the Pirate Show amazing the audience!  Mrs. Gendron, Mrs. Peabody, and Miss Potts worked endless hours preparing for the show and we are fortunate that they selflessly share their talents with all of our students.  Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Finkle also spent extra hours setting up the art displays making our Francis Wyman halls look like a true art museum filled with a kaleidoscope of color.  THANK YOU LADIES!  If you did not have a chance to visit, the art will be on display for a few weeks.  Just stop by any time during school hours and grab a visitor badge in the office.

At the spring carnival, James Burke won "Principal for the Day".  Today, he served as acting principal.  Mr. Burke enjoyed time in the office (see below), doing morning announcements, teaching a first grade lesson, and meeting with Dr. Conti about school policies.  It was great to have a new face in the office!
  Thank you Mr. Burke!

from Principal Burke...
"fourth grade will have extra recess for 20 minutes on the play ground.

ps.  they begged to me so much so I had to."

Recently, we received a grant from Harvard Pilgrim, thanks to Kindergarten parent, Arif Moriya.  He and office associates designated Francis Wyman School as recipient.  Part of the grant money was used to fund new science materials for our library including both traditional books as well as e-books available for students to use on their IPads.  We are grateful to our community partners and generous parents for supporting our academic programs at Francis Wyman!

Can tab collection continues for the Francis Wyman LABBB Collaborative program.  We turn the aluminum can tabs in to be recycled and the proceeds go directly to the Shr
iners of America.  Shriner's helps pay for children's hospital treatment and care for burn victims.  Please collect your tabs and bring them to the office.  Thanks!
