 Busy Exploring Science

First grade students in Mrs. Jefferson's class explored "sound" with a wide variety of both genuine and student made instruments.  They practiced vocabulary such as friction, pitch, tone, and vibration.  It was "music to my ears" to hear students explore and talk about their scientific discoveries about sound.

 Superfish Day in Kindergarten...

Mr. Musselman joined our Kindergarten students for a presentation on ocean life.  He displayed a wide variety of ocean animals, describing both vertebrates and invertebrates to the crowd.  The presentation was made complete with the fresh smell of squid adding to the authentic ocean experience!
Thanks to Mr. Musselman and the Kindergarten team for supporting this learning opportunity.

After completing the core book Number the Stars in Mrs. Agostino's and Ms. Marion's classes, Emery Loiselle came to school to talk about his role in the service during WWII. The students had an opportunity to ask questions and learn about life in the 1940's.  We are grateful he took the time to share his life experiences with our students.

Helen Keller Visits FW
Grade 3 also had a special visitor this week.  "Helen Keller's" life was depicted on stage and the third graders relived her experiences and learned firsthand about the daily challenges she faced!

                           ~Mrs. Casey's Class earned Kindness Awards~
I am so proud of Mrs. Casey's 4th grade class that made the extra effort to go above and beyond this week to demonstrate
acts of kindness toward others and acknowledge others around them for being kind.  What a great way to celebrate our SOAR motto at Francis Wyman!

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made "The LEGO® Movie" a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble - LEGO Batman - stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker's hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
